Focus:
Arts & Ideas Magazine focuses on providing Islanders and the world a window onto the arts and ideas of Martha’s Vineyard. We have only two filters for our editorial content: Community and Imagination.
Share and Stimulate:
A&I to makes it easy for the Island community to share its imagination with the world. In this community-building process, A&I seeks to stimulate insight, interaction and deeper inquiry.
Big Audience:
Online, we use a platform called Tumblr. It’s essentially an arts blog. Tumblr allows A&I Magazine to share its content with people around the world. It broadens the community. In addition, everything posted to A&I automatically enters our Facebook and Twitter streams.
Community Posting:
We encourage local artists and creative people to post to A&I. You can post art, text, and video — we’ll share it well. And, community posted content often makes it into our print/digital magazine.
Looks Good, Anywhere:
Our design makes art and ideas “available”, easily engaged. Importantly, it is also easy for readers to read or engage content on any computer — on your desk or on your phone.
Content Collecting:
We seek out and post what other people are posting and sharing, in order to be true to our focus of “sharing and stimulating community imagination.”
Purpose:
A&I Magazine is an insight-driven publication that curates the imagination of an island community. A&I focuses on celebrating creativity and artistic expression by focusing on the art, the people and the ideas of our place. We believe each well-designed page reveals a central notion: arts and ideas are the best expression and the greatest evidence of who this community is and what it may become.
